FORTA-FI® is a high tensile strength synthetic fiber blend formulated to reinforce asphalt mixes. It provides initial cost savings through reduced pavement layer thickness or increasing the overall life cycle of the extending pavement. The patented mix contains aramid and polyolefin fibers that have excellent strength, durability and bonding properties.

FORTA-FI® is designed to three-dimensionally reinforce all asphalt mixtures. By controlling thermal, reflective and fatigue cracking, as well as rutting, it is a cost-effective way to improve the durability and longevity of a wide variety of asphalt applications. It can be used in overlays, surface or base and courses of asphalt pavements.

FORTA-FI mixes well in both asphalt mixing processes, at all production speeds. Mixing is very simple: add 1 sachet (0.5 kg) of FORTA-FI to 1 tonne of asphalt. The addition can be carried out at any point in the mixing process. The use of FORTA-FI does not require any changes in the asphalt production and laying process. Full dispersion of the fibres requires only a few seconds, so there is no need to increase the typical mixing time used in the asphalt mixing process.
